What is a Digital Garden

In my view, a Digital Garden is a compelling alternative to the very familiar website blog.

A Digital Garden is not bound by the traditional website post structure which is linear, static.

With a Digital Garden, we have access to a highly configurable platform that offers endless ways to customize, the look, structure, and feel.

Here are some of the features available:

There formatting options and content types available as well.

One of the differences between a blog and a Digital Garden is how the files are saved. In a Wordpress blog, the post is in generally created in HTML format.

In a Digital Garden, the files are created in Markdown format with the .md extension.

This provides us access to a plethora of customization options by using Markdown text. Here's a guide: https://www.markdownguide.org/basic-syntax/

From the official Digital Garden documentation:

The Obsidian Digital Garden Plugin is a free and open source publishing tool for Obsidian.

Publish your notes directly from Obsidian to the internet. While feature packed, it is highly configurable and hackable. Enable and disable features on a per-note basis. Use it as a full fledged digital garden or as a simple note sharing solution.
